Bye-bye baby blue flip-flops

I know it's been so long since a post! So much has happened that I want to update, but not tonight, it's too late!

Tonight I just have to document the end of Jessica's beloved blue flip flops, especially since the last post has been on the front page of our blog for record time.

Tonight we let Jessica stay up late (we were just too lazy to put her in bed and she's just so easy and fun to have around). About 10:30 pm we tucked her tired little body into her crib with her blue flip flops on her feet. About five minutes later we heard her crying. Mark went into her room (our closet :) and she was standing up in her crib holding her blue flip flops and said in a sad voice, "Oh-Oh....broken." Mark examined them and she was right, they were broken! So sad!! Mark told her it was OK and that we would get some more tomorrow. She is now fast asleep, and I'm wondering how we are going to fulfill that promise... First of all, tomorrow is Sunday and secondly I'm sure there are no blue flip flops in any store this time of year. It's kind of sad to say goodbye to these shoes that have been so much a part of our lives for the last few months, but from the picture you can see that it's time... (Yuck, I know they are so dingy and dirty!) Maybe this is just what we needed to move on! Bye-bye flips! Wish us luck tomorrow when we try to get Jessica to wear some different shoes!

Feel your pain Maria. When kids get used to one thing... nothing else will do. It cracks me up that she likes to wear them to bed. Hope all is well.

You inspire me, Maria. I just noticed that you commented on my blog at 6:20 AM! You probably just finished running 5 miles. :)

Now THAT is how kids get good immune systems...wearing the shoes to bed that they have worn all over Vegas! If Jessica is anything like Halle, she will form a new attachment in a few minutes! But we were really looking forward to seeing her in those at Christmas!
