It's been a while since I've been on here to blog...I've been busy doing some firsts....one of which is I've been training for a sprint triathalon with some friends. The distances are not that long, but to be competing with athletes that do these races all the time makes me a little scared. But, it will be fun. It's about a month away. Last weekend we went to Lake Las Vegas (where the race is) and biked the route. Here we are....all of the girls(except for me) have had a baby in the last year! I know, way to go!!
Another first for me was our recent ski trip to Brian Head. My kids think it is funny that I am 35 and have never been skiing. So since this was the year that I wasn't pregnant or taking care of a little baby, I decided to try it! I took ski lessons with my little (not really little, she is 12) niece, Chyna. I spent most of the day falling...that was how I stopped! I would get going so fast and get scared that I might run into a tree or someone so I would just fall. After lessons, I went on a bigger hill a couple of times with my sister Michelle. She was such a better teacher than my mean teacher who almost made me cry! She was so patient and helped me up when I totally crashed and got a slight concusion! I left that day pretty bruised up but I'm just glad that I didn't break any bones! Thank goodness we don't have pictures of that day, but it was fun and I promised Mark I will try again next year! I'm hoping my first triathalon goes better than my first time skiing! :)

The next morning we went tubing with cousins (and the Fifes were there too!) Now this was FUN!!!

The Best Big Sister....Rachel

I just had to do this little tribute to Rachel...what would we do without her? And what would her little sisters do without her? She is so good to them and they love her. A couple weeks ago, she came home from school to find a little sister (Megan) begging to play with her (it's not anything new, it happens daily.) But on this day, Rachel didn't have homework, so she took the girls in the other room for a long period of time. They came out looking like this....

They were MATCHY-MATCHY from head to toe!

and it wasn't even my doing so we took some pictures...

We love you Rach, you are such a great big sister!

Jessica

A while ago I was making dinner and not paying a lot of attention to Jessica. Mark came in the kitchen and started taking these photos of Jessica. She had gotten into the candy cupboard and was in heaven! Notice ALL the suckers, not just one!

Superman dunk

Two weeks ago was All-Star weekend. I've never watched much of the game, but I've always enjoyed the dunk contest. This year it was great and very entertaining! Tommy loved it as well. His favorite dunk was the Superman dunk by Dwight Howard. I think he really did fly and he even wore a cape. It was a really cool dunk!
Well, last Saturday, Tommy came back from Jackson's house wearing a cape. He said he needed Mark's help. So, Mark and Tommy went outside as Tommy tried to do a Superman dunk like Dwight.

He had a running start...

He took off...

It's a bird...

It's a plane....

No, it's Tommy doing an amazing Superman dunk....

with a little help from his Superhero Dad!

Getting Closer!!!

It's been fun for the kids to watch the workers build this patio cover. They have thrown it up so fast. It should be completed by next week!! Yea, before the heat hits Vegas!!

Our New Patio Cover

We decided to get a patio cover on our house (finally after 4 years:) Last week they started by cutting the holes in the cement for the footings. I let the kids outside for a few minutes after school to check it out. Notice Tommy playing Peek-a-Boo with Jessica. He was trying to get her to duck inside the hole.
The kids thought it was funny that Jessica could fit inside the hole...

You can see that Tommy's efforts paid off and Jessica finally ducked down, peaking out of the hole. I know, it looks kind of freaky!

Today they are framing. I would take a picture and post it, but the workers won't leave long enough for me to snap a picture. I'll have to wait until they leave.

Katie and Megan
Last night Megan and I were talking about some of the sayings on her shirts (I don't know why???) But I mentioned the shirt that says "Candy Makes Me Happy." I said, "Now that's true, huh Megan, candy makes you happy!" She thought for a minute and she said, "but I think Katie makes me happy!" Megan has a little friend that lives next door named Katie Fife. They have been friends since birth. Megan LOVES her and begs to play with her everyday! So today when we woke up and I put this shirt on Megan, she said, "But mom, Katie makes me happy!"

So, after we had a little candy for breakfast....
we fixed Megan's shirt....

and called Katie over to play! Thanks for being such a great friend Katie!!
